How have things been going for you so far? How would you describe the current state of things there in Cubland?
今のところご自身そしてカブスの調子はどうですか？
Oh man, good to see all you guys, by the way. It’s been nice being in the Cubs clubhouse as much as we have the last two weeks. We’re playing a lot of good teams with strong starting pitching and bullpens. It’s been a whole squad contribution from the Cubbies. From top to bottom, we’re hitting and playing a lot of close games
みんなと会えて本当に嬉しいよ。実は、この2週間、カブスのクラブハウスにいる時間が増えて、すごくいい経験をしているんだ。強い先発投手とブルペンを持っているチームが多いけど、カブスは全員が力を合わせて戦っているね。打撃も守備も、試合が接戦になることが多いけど、全員が貢献しているんだ。
Now, moving on to the next question: ‘What is the most impactful change you’ve made to your swing?'”
バッティングのフォームにおいて、最も大きな変化は何ですか？
“I would say this offseason definitely brought the most impactful swing change, which was cutting down on a lot of the work we were trying to do with the actual swing itself and putting more focus on grounding myself. I think consistency has been really hard for me to find at times in the box. It’s always tough when you’re not swinging at good pitches, but I’ve kind of found a way to put myself in a repeatable position. Finding consistency was definitely the outlier for me in terms of any change I’ve made.”
オフシーズンに一番大きな変化があったと思うよ。スイング自体を改良しようとするよりも、むしろ自分の体をしっかりと地面に根付かせることに重点を置いたんだ。打席での一貫性を見つけるのがすごく難しかったんだけど、やっぱりいいピッチを打たないときって、どうしても調子を崩しがちだよね。でも、今は繰り返しできるフォームを見つけたと思う。一貫性を持つことが、僕にとって一番の課題だったね。

全員が貢献する (whole squad contribution)
チーム全体が協力して勝利に貢献するという意味です。
Example 1: “This project was a success because of the whole squad contribution.”
「このプロジェクトは全員が貢献して、成功に繋がった。」
Example 2: “In soccer, a whole squad contribution is key to winning the game.”
「サッカーの試合では、全員が貢献することが勝利への鍵だ。」
最初から最後まで (top to bottom)
チームの最初の選手から最後の選手まで全員が役立っているという意味です。
Example 1: “From top to bottom, everyone in the company is working hard with a high level of awareness.”
「会社の最初から最後まで、全員が意識を高く持って働いている。」
Example 2: “At the party, people enjoyed themselves from top to bottom.”
「パーティーでは、最初から最後までみんなが楽しんでいた。」
繰り返せるフォーム (repeatable position)
安定したバッティングフォームを保つことを指します。
Example 1: “In dance practice, it’s important to maintain a repeatable position to ensure accuracy.”
「ダンスの練習では、繰り返し同じポーズをとることが大事だ。」
Example 2: “Finding a repeatable study method helped me remember the material more efficiently.”
「勉強の方法も、繰り返せるものを見つけて、効率よく覚えられるようにした。」
一貫性が大切 (consistency is an outlier)
一貫性を持つことが難しく、貴重であることを意味します。
Example 1: “To succeed in dieting, consistency is an outlier.”
「ダイエットを成功させるためには、一貫性が大切だ。」
Example 2: “In business, I’ve realized that consistency is an outlier for achieving success.”
「仕事で成功するためには、一貫性が大切だと実感している。」
